Visa & entry

Two things let you into Raja Ampat: an Indonesian entry visa, and the marine park permit you pay once you arrive.

Entering Raja Ampat involves two separate things: the visa that admits you to Indonesia, and the conservation fees that admit you to the marine park. Plan for both.

The Indonesian visa on arrival

Most tourists enter Indonesia on a Visa on Arrival, available either at the airport or in advance online as an electronic visa (e-VOA). Citizens of a long list of countries (around 97) are eligible.

  • It allows a stay of 30 days per entry.
  • It can be extended once, for a further 30 days, giving a maximum stay of 60 days.
  • The fee is around IDR 500,000 (roughly 35 US dollars).
  • It is strictly for tourism, family visits or short meetings, not for work.

Recent changes mean that extending the visa requires a personal visit to a local immigration office, so apply for an extension at least a week before it expires. To stay longer than 60 days you must leave Indonesia and apply for a different visa.

Passport requirements

Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your date of arrival and have at least two blank pages.

Always verify

Visa rules and fees change regularly. Confirm the latest requirements for your nationality on the official Indonesian immigration e-visa website (evisa.imigrasi.go.id) and with your nearest Indonesian embassy before you travel.

The Raja Ampat marine park permit

Separately from your visa, every visitor to Raja Ampat must pay conservation fees that fund reef patrols, protection and local community programmes. In 2026 there are two official fees:

  • The Marine Park Entry Permit, around IDR 700,000 per person for international visitors (about €35), valid for 12 months.
  • The Visitor Entry Ticket, around IDR 300,000 per person.

The marine park permit can be bought online through the official marine park authority, or in person on arrival at Waisai harbour, next to the homestay information centre. Keep the permit (often issued as a tag or card) with you, as it may be checked.
